The Kinesis Advantage2 has two scooped concave key wells. These reduce the need to extend the hands and fingers and keep the hand in a more neutral posture. The SmartSet™ Programming Engine allows the user to customise its layout with ease. It can switch between the QWERTY and Dvorak layouts at the touch of a button, and has 2MB of on-board memory which means that there is plenty of space to store macros and build custom layouts. • Split keyboards are designed to adapt to the natural posture of your hands, arms and shoulders so you can work with good posture. The split and angled design avoids wrist pronation and twisting of the hands which causes the carpal tunnel in the wrist to constrict.
• Concave key wells are scooped into a bowl shape to reduce hand and finger extension and relax muscles.
• Separating the key wells positions the arms at shoulder-width to keep wrists straight and perpendicular to the home row to reduce abduction and ulnar deviation. Ulnar deviation occurs when the wrist is bent outward in the direction of the little finger which causes the carpal tunnel in the wrist to constrict.
• Thumb clusters include frequently-used keys such as Enter, Space, Backspace, and Delete to redistribute the workload away from your relatively weaker and overused little fingers to stronger thumbs.
